Frequently Asked Questions
How long have you been performing weddings?
I've been performing weddings in the Tampa Bay area for over 7 years as a notary public. I've also performed weddings in other states as a minister.
Where do you perform weddings?
I perform weddings within the Tampa Bay area, including Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas, Hernando and Polk counties.
Who are you ordained by and where is your church?
I'm a non-denominational minister ordained through the Universal Life Church, which is based in Modesto, California.
Can we personalize our ceremony?
Yes – in fact, I insist on it! You and I will meet, get to know each other so they we can draft a ceremony that is reflective of your personalities, beliefs and your relationship. After the draft is complete, I will email you a copy for you to edit if you wish to do so. I want your ceremony to be just right, and am happy to work with you on the draft until it’s perfect.
My fiance(e) and I come from two different religious backgrounds. Are you able to help us?
Interfaith wedding ceremonies are one of the things I do best, together, we can create a customized ceremony that blends your religious traditions while remaining true to both.
We would like to have a religious wedding ceremony, are you able to do that?
Yes, I'm an ordained, non-denominational minister and perform both religious and secular ceremonies.
I don’t want to mention (God, religion, anything spiritual, etc.) in my ceremony. Is that okay?
Definitely! While I'm a non-denominational minister, I'm also a Florida Notary and I'm happy to work with you to create a custom ceremony that is authentic to you and your beliefs, whatever they may be.
Can we involve children in the ceremony?
Of course! Check out our Wedding Script Ideas page for examples that go beyond the traditional flower girl and ring bearer roles.
Do you perform same sex weddings?
Yes! I work with LGBT couples and I'm happy to marry any couple who wants to tie the knot.
How do we book you?
Simply contact me to check my availability for your date. Once you are ready to speak to with me, or commit to your date and time, simply go on-line, submit a non-refundable deposit of $25.00 and you’re all set!
When is my final payment due?
The balance payment is due either at the rehearsal or anytime prior to the wedding.
How much do you charge?
I marry people because I enjoy watching young couples taking the first step to starting a family. My basic charge is $125.00 which includes, initial consultation, assistance writing your wedding script, vows and/or blessings both pre-ceremony and pre-reception. If I'm needed at the rehearsal, please add $25.00.
Do you charge separate travel fees?
No, all travel is included in my package price. However, if you have selected a venue that does not offer free parking, you are responsible for either validating or paying for parking. For destination weddings and weddings outside my service area, overnight accommodations may also be required.
What if I have to change my start time or wedding date?
While I try to be as flexible as possible in accommodating changes, I cannot guarantee my availability for a date or time change. Please let me know as soon as possible if you plan to change your wedding date or time so I can try to find a solution for you.
Will you come to our wedding rehearsal?
Yes, for an additional fee, provided I'm available.
If I still want you to do my rehearsal can I book it now?
Of course! The surest way to guarantee my availability is to do so as early as possible.
Do you allow pictures during the ceremony?
Yes, of course! I've heard that some officiants can be touchy about when and how pictures are taken during the ceremony, but, I'm happy to inform you that your photographer and videographer can shoot whenever and however they would like.
My friend wants to marry us. Is that legal?
It depends on where you are getting married, some states and counties are more strict about their marriage laws than others. Obviously I would encourage you to hire a professional wedding officiant, I perform several weddings every year for couples who had a friend realize they weren’t up to the task and “chicken out” a week before their wedding. I'm happy to help in these types of circumstances as long as I have availability. You should obviously do your research and make sure you feel comfortable taking a chance using any non-professional vendor for your wedding – any wedding pro will tell you it’s not as easy as it looks! If you are in a situation where you need an officiant very quickly, please contact me as soon as possible.
We’re already legally married (but no one knows). Can you still perform a ceremony?
Yes, I do this for a lot of couples each year, especially military couples. It is very llegal to perform a “fake wedding ceremony”. No one will know the difference, unless you choose to tell them!
We want to get married but don’t want to do a big wedding, or just go to the courthouse. What are our options?
I have several options available depending on where you would like to be married, from in-home ceremonies to outdoor elopements, from beach weddings to weddings in a park. Please contact me and let me know you are interested in something simple, I can help with a few ideas!
Do you stay for the reception?
I prefer not to stay for your reception. Your reception is a time for you to be the star of the show, to have fun with your guests. Of course, if you want me to say a blessing, I will be happy to do so.
I know we tip other vendors, but what about the officiant?
Gratuities are never expected, but are always appreciated.
All of this sounds great! How can we move forward with booking you for our wedding?
